More diamonds??? Could any one person own so many spectacular diamonds? Well, Empress Crystobel does see herself as a custodian of historic art and apart from her art collection that is exhibited in part in museums all over the world for everybody's pleasure, she also owns historic jewellery and cares for and wears it, for all of us to see. In today's instalment, the final on her diamonds, we will see the remainder of the undiscussed diamond pieces.
The Ruskian Imperial Fringe Tiara and matching earrings came up for sale along with the Diamond Rosette Necklace after the Great War. It was sold along with many other jewels that remained in Ruskiana after the aristocracy were killed or exiled. The new governments sold as many jewels and art treasures as possible on the international market to raise capital in order to repair the country after the war. This set of jewellery was then bought at auction by Queen Charlotte of Scotney who intended it as an eventual wedding present for her daughter.
The Ruskian Imperial Fringe came down the line to its current owner and survived the 1996 Revolution with a bit of luck and the shrewd foresightedness of Empress Crystobel. It consists of the historic Fringe Tiara that belonged to the last official Ruskian Empress Consort paired with plain matching earrings and a separate necklace of unknown Ruskian provenance.
The Tiara has been seen regularly worn as tiara or necklace but the earrings are the least worn probably as the Empress prefers larger earrings when attending official functions.
In this photo we see the tiara worn as a very impressive necklace and paired with the matching earrings.
We hope you enjoyed the last three Tiara and Trinkets installments that featured the entire diamond collection of Empress Crystobel.
